Day 14

This morning was our last time in Vienna, we didn't get up to anything too much as we had a train to catch so we pottered around for the morning, getting take away coffee and getting ready to go to Salzburg.

Getting to the train was fairly uneventful and relatively easy to find once we asked a couple of people. When I booked the tickets the travel agent suggested we go first class as you get reserved seating. From what she was saying it wasn't much different from cattle class, it was just that you got an allocated seat. This was definitely not the case, here is a view of the cabin that we were in.

The seats were spacious, the leg room plentiful and the food and drink menu was divine.

I was actually really looking forward to this trip mostly because I like the idea of a train ride but also thought there was going to be a heap of things to see. That part of it wasn't the case, the view was mostly of barriers and flat fields, it wasn't until we go into Salzburg that we started to see some nice scenery. For anyone contemplating it, I would recommend the train, very peaceful and classy way to travel.

Can anyone guess the top speed of the train today?

We arrived on schedule and headed out of the train station to our hotel, again uneventful finding it. The room was fairly nice though not as big as the upgraded room in Vienna, a little spoilt on that count.

Once we had settled in we decided to head out and explore the area, mostly because we were getting hungry, all this travelling makes us very hungry.

Here is what we found, just savour each picture, they are stunning.

Whilst on our walk we came across these cool dudes.

They had it all, funk, blues, jazz, rock and sung in their native language as well as English covers. Between us Kelly and I put 15EURO in their guitar case, the lead guitarist came over and gave us one of their CDs whilst still performing, very slick. Can't wait to listen to it when we get back.

We then decided it was time to eat. We found this cute little place. And of course I had more strudel, it is a wonder that not all Austrians are as big as houses with all that good food.

On the way back to our room we discovered this beautiful park.

Where's wally?

Todays something random, an electric car charger in the street, very forward thinking.

First impressions of Salzburg... magic. Can't wait to get inside that big castle on the hill and the sound of music tour, should be a lot of fun.
