Day 9

So this morning we went to ....

Before leaving we had our very first French breakfast. I asked to see "Le menu" and after a strange look from the staff they pointed to a basket with croissants in it, that was the menu.

We went on a Saturday so there were heaps of people, spent an hour lining up to get tickets for the stairs to the first level.

Here are some pics from the line while we were waiting.

Here is the line we were in, it didn't get any smaller the whole time we were there, just stayed a constant length.

Now some may say that it is just a big lump of metal that draws tourists from all over the world but when you are climbing the stairs or going up the lift, it's presence is so much more. The walk to the second level (as we took the stairs for the first length of the journey) took us up no less than 672 steps.

Here is the view from the first level through a glass floor, very unnerving.

The constuction work you can see below is something to do with an extension of the first floor, looked impressive.

Me on the first floor.

Some shots of Paris from the first floor.

A panoramic for good measure.

Some shots from the top, this is at maximum zoom on the camera, it was a dot before I zoomed.

Such am amazing experience though a heap of it waiting around, again worth it.

We then decided to do some washing which proved to be quite a challenging exercise, everything was in French and still wasn't clear when we translated it. For those interested we used an app called word lens which is awesome, hover over a French sign and it translates it in real time to English.

As we have been doing we watched Le Tour de France, stage 8, nail biting stuff and it is anyone's race now that some of the main contenders are out.

We then received a message from Rhys and Yvette saying they were in the local laundry doing some washing and drinking some beer so Kelly and I went to the shop and got some wine and snacks and joined them in the laundry, passed the time nicely.

We then returned to our respective rooms to freshen up then headed out to dinner together, we found this amazing place near our hotel.

And here were some of the meals, they were to die for.

Duck.

Pork.

Veal.

As the convention does in Paris, it turned to fashion, we discussed a fashion style called Norm Core ie the style for dressing normal, what will they think of next! :)

Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures.
